Shopping for the ultimate foodie? Give one of these cookbooks a try. These are our personal favorites, found in many a Cameron’s Seafood fam’s kitchen or coffee table (you might have seen one or two behind the counter at one of our stores)!


American Seafood

This is a beautiful book~in pictures, stories and recipes. Barton Seaver created not just a cookbook but a guide to over 500 seafood species with an intriguing social history of the American seafood industry. With over 580 pages, many filled with beautifully drawn sketches and images, this book would make for a great maritime coffee table book as well as a kitchen reader. Perfect for the foodie who’s equally fascinated with food history as they are with creating delicious seafood-inspired meals. 


Tommy Bahama Flavors of the Southern Coast

Tommy Bahama created a series of beach-themed Americana cookbooks but their Flavors of the Southern Coast is our favorite out of the bunch. Taking the hungry road from Galveston to the Florida Keys, you’ll discover delicious technicolor recipes and really fun (in true TB fashion) cocktail pairings as well. Rick Rogers, author, works wonders with everything from Texas Caviar to Creole Surf and Turf. All of the Tommy Bahama recipes are pretty easy to recreate, even introducing the home cook to some fun new southern pantry staples. Perfect for the beach bum on your list.


Le Bernardin Cookbook

Le Bernardin is THE fine dining seafood restaurant in NYC, racking up award after award for mastery in seafood. Even after a few decades, Le Bernardin is still a list topper among the heavily competitive best restaurants in the world list. Even with all of these accolades, this cookbook is easy enough for the home cook to follow with deliciously simple recipes like Poached Lobster on Marinated Vegetables and Grilled Salmon with Mushroom Vinaigrette. Perfect addition to the fine dining and restaurant fanatic on your list. 


The Deep End of Flavor

Chef Tenney Flynn is a master of New Orleans cuisine and known for being a remarkable magician when it comes to seafood. The Deep End of Flavor: Recipes and Stories from New Orlean’s Premier Seafood Chef has everything you need to recreate cajun and creole cuisine at home. From classic dishes to contemporary adaptations your mouth will water with recipes like Tempura Fried Louisiana-Style Shrimp or Crawfish & Corn Spoonbread. I am especially a fan of the dipping sauce section. and have made their Sweet Corn and Red Pepper Butter Sauce a dozen times over.

A great cookbook option for those who love New Orleans or aspire to cook like Nawlins’.


America’s Test Kitchen Foolproof Fish

America’s Test Kitchen is known as being the go-to culinary instructors, with TV, print and online popularity. Breaking down each and every step for simple preparation and execution. Their Foolproof Fish is a great book for those looking to hone their seafood cooking skills, making every recipe and tip approachable and easily understandable. I also enjoy the versatility throughout the book, allowing the home cook to, as they say, ‘make the most out of their seafood’.

Great option for the novice foodie or those looking to ‘skill up’ their seafood cooking abilities.
