Today’s easy crab cake sandwich recipe was adapted from The Comfort Kitchen and we definitely give it the Cameron’s Seafood stamp of approval. Crab Cake Sandwiches Recipe:

Skill Level: Beginner

Cooking and Prep Time: 1.5 hours

Yields about 15 sliders or 7 crab cake sandwiches

Ingredients Required to make Crab Cake Sandwiches:

  • one pound Maryland lump crabmeat
  • half a red bell pepper, diced into small pieces
  • two cloves of minced garlic
  • lemon juice from half a lemon
  • quarter cup mayo
  • half a cup panko breadcrumbs
  • one egg
  • one teaspoon dry ground mustard
  • salt to taste
  • cayenne pepper to desired spice level
  • one teaspoon onion powder
  • one teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Depending on whether you want to make crab cake sliders or crab cake sandwiches, you’ll need about 15 slider buns or 7 sandwich bread pairs, respectively.

To make the spicy mayo from scratch, you’ll also need the following ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons lemon juice
  • salt to taste (about a quarter teaspoon should be good)
  • 5 tablespoons Sriracha or other hot sauce of choice
  • half cup of mayo
  • dash of freshly ground black pepper

Crab Cake Sandwiches Cooking Directions:

Start off by lining a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Combine all of the ingredients for the crab cake sandwiches into a large bowl. Use your hands to mix the ingredients, forming a consistent mixture.

If you want crab cake sliders, form the mixture into small-sized patties and place them on the baking sheet. If you want crab cake sandwiches, form medium-sized patties onto the baking sheet. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for about an hour.

While the patties are cooling in the fridge, start making your homemade spicy mayo. The spicy mayo is super easy to make: simply combine all of the ingredients from the second list above into a bowl and blend them together by stirring. That’s it! Cover the spicy mayo bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you cook the crab cakes.

To cook the crab cakes, place a large pan over medium-high heat with about two tablespoons of olive oil in the skillet. Delicately transfer the crab cake patties onto the pan and fry until golden-brown. It usually takes about 4 minutes or so per side to give fried crab cakes the perfect crunch. Be careful that the patties don’t fall apart while you’re flipping them!

Once all of your crab cakes have been cooked, place each patty on a slider bun or sandwich bread and enjoy them with your favorite toppings!

Wasn’t that recipe easy?!
