If you’re familiar with Cameron’s Seafood, you probably know that we love easy crab cake recipes. What you might not know about us, however, is that we also love easy crab cake sauce.

Today’s blog post will run you through our top 5 easy crab cake sauce staff picks!

1. Home Made Tartar Sauce

We’re going to start out with the traditional sauce used for seafood all around the world: Tartar Sauce.

Tartar sauce is a delightful blend of mayonnaise and relish. In our recipe, we add a few other ingredients for some added flavor.

Tartar Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup of mayonnaise (we use low-calorie)
  • 2 tablespoons of chives
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard (Dijon works best)
  • 1/3 cup of sweet relish
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • salt and pepper to taste

Tartar sauce is also incredibly easy to make. Just take all of the ingredients above and throw them into a mixing bowl, and whisk them together!

Try chilling the mixture for an hour prior to serving for optimum flavor.

2. Remoulade

If you’re looking for an easy crab cake sauce loved by Americans everywhere, especially in the fine state of Louisiana, try making a remoulade.

Remoulade is technically a French sauce, but Louisiana certainly made it their own with the addition of Cajun spices and seasonings!

Remoulade Ingredients

  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • ¼ cup of mustard (try spicy)
  • 1 tablespoon of paprika
  • 1 clove of garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons of horseradish

Remoulade definitely tastes better if the flavors have a longer time to blend together. So, we recommend mixing all of the ingredients into a bowl and throwing it in the fridge for a few hours.

3. Chipotle Aioli

If you’re looking for one of the more trendy sauces of the last few years, try making a chipotle aioli crab cake sauce!

Aioli is a garlic mayonnaise, and the chipotle spice nicely compliments the rich mayonnaise.

Chipotle mayonnaise is super easy to make and goes well with just about any fried food!

Chipotle Aioli Ingredients

  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • ¼ can of adobo sauce (the sauce that chipotle peppers are preserved in)
  • 4 minced garlic cloves
  • ¼ cup of lemon juice

Mix all of the ingredients together until the color is a nice light red. Try making it a day or two before serving!

4. Cilantro and Lime Dip

Okay so now it’s time to veer away from the mayo-based dips. This cilantro and lime dip has a base of sour cream.

This dip is a great foil to a spicy crab cake and really brightens the palate.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1/3 cup of fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 1 small hot pepper (if desired)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Combine all of these ingredients into a bowl and whisk them together. For a nice garnish, add a couple pieces of chopped cilantro on top of the sauce!

5. Vegan Tzatziki

We realize this list may seem a bit redundant, as we’re talking about crab cakes, but more and more people are becoming vegan so we thought we’d include a recipe for all of you vegan readers out there!

Last but not least, this recipe is from Willow at Create Mindfully:

  • 1 cup of vegan sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups of seeded, peeled, and grated cucumber
  • 1 cup of unsweetened coconut yogurt
  • 4 tablespoons of fresh dill (chopped fine)
  • 4 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

Firstly, strain the cucumber so that the juices are pulled from the vegetable. Next, mix all of the ingredients into a bowl and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.
