Crab Roll Recipe: Delicious & Easy Crab Roll Duo

Most of us have heard of lobster rolls, but have you heard of the very delicious blue crab roll? Made the same as a lobster roll, but using crab meat, the blue crab roll is sweet, succulent, and flavorful. We found 2 recipes that we love to use, one of them is traditional and one of them is more of a non-traditional recipe, but still very tasty.

Traditional Maryland Crab Roll Recipe

Skill Level: Beginner

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients Required for this crab roll recipe:

  • 6 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tsp thyme
  • 3/4 lb Cameron’s Lump Maryland Crab Meat
  • 3 tbsp finely green onions or chives, chopped
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 hot dog buns, split open
  • 4 leaves of lettuce

Crab Roll Cooking Directions:

Stir together mayonnaise, lemon juice, lemon peel, cayenne pepper, and thyme in a medium bowl. Mix in your Lump Maryland Crab Meat, carefully to keep it from breaking up, and the chopped green onions or chives. Season crab salad to taste with salt and pepper.

Spread butter on the insides of the hot dog buns. Warm a large frying pan over medium heat for about 1 minute. Place the buns, buttered side down, in preheated pan and toast until golden, about 5 minutes. Take 2 plates and place 2 buns on each plate. Place 1 lettuce leaf inside each bun and divide the crab salad among the 4 buns. Serve on their own or with a side salad or fries.

The second recipe we like to use is a little more non-traditional, but the avocado in it tastes amazing. They are the Avocado Crab Rolls from Food52. We changed up a few things again to just to put our own Cameron’s twist on it.
