Stuffed Mushrooms with Crab Recipe

Eating mushrooms first became popular in 19th century France, and today’s stuffed mushrooms with crab are a great party bite as they are easy to pick up and don’t crumble. We absolutely love these stuffed mushrooms with crab. They are typically baked or broiled and served hot for immediate enjoyment.

Mushrooms are a great source of vitamin B, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid and phosphorus. Add all of these benefits to those that naturally exist in crab, like omega-3 fatty acids and selenium, and you’ve got a great dose of vitamins and minerals! Once you wash the mushrooms and remove the stems, you have a perfect cup to hold a delicious crab meat filling.

You can use a wide array of fillings in your stuffed mushrooms, but crab is one of the most popular. The meatiness of the mushroom paired with the delicate yet rich crab filling makes a great surf and turf style pairing. We were inspired by this crab-stuffed mushrooms recipe by legendary southern chef Paula Deen. We’ve added our own spin to this great and easy recipe that is sure to impress. In our humble opinion, our succulent lump Maryland crab meat works very well in this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cameron’s Lump Maryland Crab Meat
  • 10 white mushroom caps
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh chives, chopped
  • 4 tbsp Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degree Fahrenheit.
  2. Gently combine the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, parsley, chives, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Meanwhile, in a separate small bowl, combine the bread crumbs with the melted butter.
  4. Clean your mushrooms and remove the stems with a paring knife.
  5. Stuff the mushroom caps with the crab mixture and top each one with some of the bread crumbs mixed with the melted butter. This will ensure the mushroom caps come out of the oven with a brown and crispy top.
  6. Place the mushrooms on a cookie sheet and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes. The filling should be hot and melting and the bread crumbs should be nicely browned when ready.
  7. Transfer your cooked mushrooms carefully to a stylish serving plate and place on the table or pass around to friends.
  8. Feel like having these stuffed mushrooms as a meal for two instead? Serve five each, paired with a nice salad and a piece of crusty bread on the side. Feel free to get creative and add your own personal flair to this delicious stuffed mushroom recipe.
