Skip the Steak and Serve your Valentine Crab Legs (our most impressive serving suggestions)

Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than serving Cameron’s Seafood this Valentine’s Day—a gracious and romantic gesture of delicious Alaskan seafood. Our King Crab Legs or Snow Crab Legs will make you the catch of the day this February 14th!

We’ll share with you our most impressive serving suggestions as well as some cooking tips to make this intimate meal easy, delicious, and seamless.

King Crab Legs

Alaskan Colossal King Crab Legs are the most impressive in the category. These are the largest, highest quality crab legs on the market –and– would make for a stunning menu option for Valentine’s Day.

They’re called ‘king’ for good reason! The average King Crab weighs between 6 to 8lbs. Their bodies are, on average, just under 1ft. with a leg span reaching almost 5 ft. The meat is absolutely luxurious. Mild and sweet with a delicate saltiness.

How we like to serve King Crab Legs…

We love serving our King Crab Legs with a trio of buttery dips. These dips can enhance the overall succulence of the crab as well as providing a diversity of flavor opportunities.

Traditional melted butter is always a good option, that our dip #1. Dip #2, to provide a note of citrus and herb, we love mixing melted butter with lemon juice, chives, tarragon, parsley, and garlic—all fresh ingredients that pair palatably with the crab meat. Dip #3 brings a hint of heat. Combine melted butter with garlic, Cajun seasoning, lemon juice, and a dash of hot sauce for a zesty, flavorful, buttery dip.

As for side dishes, roasted baby potatoes and asparagus make for perfectly paired sides. Working well with the butter trio and supporting the rich, succulent crab meat without overshadowing.

Snow Crab Legs

Snow Crabs, aka. Queen Crabs are a delicious Valentine’s Day option– fresh tasting with a sweet, delicate, and subtly briny flavor and melt-in-your mouth tenderness. Our Snow Crab clusters are hearty, 4 clusters equal 3lbs., the ideal serving size for 2.

Snow crabs obtain most of their flavor profile based on the bitter cold waters they call home. Their shells are also softer, easier to crack, making them a less messy menu item for your romantic Valentine’s meal.

How we like to serve Snow Crab Legs…

These appetizing clusters are best with melted butter, cocktail sauce, and maybe a little mignonette (a sauce made from red wine vinegar, shallots, black pepper, and a pinch of sugar). Where you can get creative is with the side dishes. Snow crabs are remarkably versatile and pair well with peppery arugula salads, buttery noodles, grilled corn, or savory-spiced french fries.

How to Cook your Crab Legs

Broil:

Preheat your broiler on low. Season and toss the crab legs with a little Old Bay and space out evenly on your baking sheet (you may need to do this in batches, depending on how many clusters you have). Broil for 3 minutes per side and let cool enough for you to handle before serving.

Alternatively, you can split the crab legs and body, exposing the meat, and season with butter, garlic, lemon, etc… This will provide that tell-tale charring and succulence (mouth is watering just thinking about it).

Bake:

Preheat your oven to about 350°F-400°F. Place your crab leg clusters on a baking sheet or XL casserole dish and cover with foil. Bake for 10-15 minutes, if thawed, and 35-45 minutes, if frozen.

Grill:

Grilled crab legs should be thoroughly thawed before being grilled, this will provide the best results. Drippage from ‘thawing while cooking’ legs could cause flare-ups.

Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350°F-400°F). Grill crab legs for about 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until hot throughout. Let cool enough for you to handle before serving.

Steam:

Fill your steamer base to the recommended height with water (or boost flavor by using beer, wine or any other well flavored liquid) and bring to a boil. Fill your steamer basket with crab leg clusters (you may need to work in batches here, depending on how many crab legs will fit). Reduce heat to medium (just simmering the liquid) and steam for 10-12 minutes, thawed or 20-25 minutes, if frozen.
